I met Brittany and her family a few years ago when I shot a big family session for them & then her younger sisters senior photos…I remember hearing the story of how she had been in a bad accident and luckily survived. She looked so happy on the day we shot these just over a week ago…She and her mom Shonna were totally up for the task of hauling blankets and pillows from my house into the field nearby & we had the luck of a 70 degree day in February! It was a sign; meant to be. I asked her to write something about her story as to inspire others who have gone through trauma like hers. Miracles happen.
In her words~
I was so overjoyed to have my maternity photos taken with Maggie. On March 24th 2012 on the way to visit family, I was ejected from the backseat of a Jeep Wrangler, during a car accident. I suffered a broken neck, multiple cuts and deep bruising, and a traumatic brain injury. Slipping from life twice once with paramedics on the scene and then again during the helicopter ride to St Johns hospital. For three weeks I was in a coma, given a tracheotomy and placed on a feeding tube. Once I started to come out of the coma, I was then flown to Craig Hospital in Denver Colorado. The exceptional staff there spent roughly 7 hours a day for the next few months rehabilitating me. They taught me how to perform everyday task such as breathing, swallowing, walking, talking, etc., basically everything that is taught to a new born. That said, I’m told I’m a miracle…even better, I’m now creating a life inside of me, something more that we ever thought could happen.
This baby girl will be born in a week via C-section as Brittany’s brain cannot handle any more trauma. I am so looking forward to meeting her. I hope she is a red head too:) Have I mentioned how much I love red heads? …and beautiful pregnant moms to be? I do.
Inspire and share the love,
