The life of a gymnast…ahhh, the life. It is one of those things I just cannot explain well. If you were one or are one, or coached the sport, you understand! Mikala will be a senior next year and her mom ( my dear old friend, fellow coach and former boss lady..) wanted some pics of her in the gym, as she is retiring. I think she may be rethinking that one..? SO many gymnasts burn out. You literally have NO other life than going to workouts and meets. It’s a huge sacrifice, but an addiction like no other. The moment I stepped into the gym, the smell got me instantly. Chalk dust, musty carpet …like I said, hard to explain how you feel when you step back into a life you had for so long. I miss that weird smell. I miss the kids and energy in the gym. I miss yelling out, “point…lift….straighten up…harder, slower, more graceful, lift your head…squeeze your butt…!”…..anyway, here are a few sweet pics of Mikala, deep in thought in some pics, laughing in others, capturing a few moments…but the memories are for a lifetime. The Gymnast.
remember the days in the gym before A/C in Oklahoma? We loved a breeeezzzeeeee.
